Victorian Mourning Brooch Vulcanite Gutta Percha Cherry Cluster Memento Mori Pin
A beautifully carved cluster of cherries, signifying the passing of someone in their youth, is the theme of this sentimental Victorian mourning brooch, circa 1880s.
The antique “memento mori” is carved in a high dimensional design from a chocolate brown Vulcanite or Gutta Percha, in the form of cherries or berries with leaves and flowers.
*Please note that there is a small soldered repair in back at the catch (see close up pic), which still functions and remains secure.
The brooch itself is in very good condition, and measures approximately 1&1/2 inches wide at its widest point by 1&3/4 inches high, and has a c-catch.
