Vintage DuJay Pears Brooch Rhinestone Art Deco Fruit Pin
A duette of pears pave set with bright sparkling rhinestones are featured in this vintage and sought after brooch by elusive designer Du Jay, circa late 30s.
The scarce Art Deco fruit pin is unmarked and consists of a “pair of pears” hanging from a branch and comprised of a cast alloy base with rhodium plating. Each plump pear fruit is pave set with clear faceted rhinestones, and include green enameled leaves with some of the enameled glaze extending onto some of the stones set along the edges of the leaves, along with a high domed sapphire blue colored glass cab or carbuncle, serving as the calyx at the base of each fruit.
The brooch measures approximatey 1&5/8 inches wide by 2&3/8 inches high, and weighs 17.2 grams.
