80s Dior Suit Ladies Numbered Couture Navy Blue Wool Jacket & Skirt Set M

Regular price $150.00

Sleek lines and elegant silhouette are featured in this vintage 80's "numbered couture" ladies dress suit by the iconic design house of Christian Dior, from 1986.

The custom made two-piece dress suit is numbered, and is a museum deaccession -- and consists of a solid and weighty wool knit in a deep navy or midnight blue color, with combination jacket and matching skirt.

The jacket is collarless and has a jeweled deep V neckline, single button closure in front, long sleeves, two slit hip pockets, and a full silk lining within, hand stitched into place.

The pencil line skirt is also fully lined, and has a metal zipper in back with hook and eye closure at the waist, five belt loops, and two side slit pockets. There is also a dry cleaning tag attached to one of the loops, which I have left intact.

*Please note – There is a small hole on the left shoulder as shown (see close-up pic) and what appears to be moth damage along the back of the skirt, in a single line measuring about 2 inches in length. The skirt is lined and so the holes will not show through, however, the suit has been priced accordingly.

The suit has an embroidered label for “Printemps-ÉTÉ-1986”, “Christian Dior”, “Paris”, and with numbers “21218”, along with “Made in France”. This main label does not sit perfectly horizontal, as if it had been re-tacked on the left side at one time, perhaps by the museum itself.

There is also a fabric content label in the skirt for “Laine 98 % Polyamid 2 % Double Soie”, which is covered with a cloth label with numeration, that is possibly the museum’s inventory tag.

Aside from the two issues noted above, the suit itself is in good condition and very wearable, and remains vibrant and intact.

Please note measurements as follows and be sure to allow for ease.
