A delicately carved Rose of Sharon is featured on this antique Victorian gold intaglio ring with genuine faceted amethyst, circa 1880s.
The elegant ring is petite in size and consists of a decorative unmarked 14K gold band, prong set with a faceted purple amethyst gemstone, approximately 9mm by 7mm in size for an approximate carat weight of 2.5 – carved with a Rose of Sharon intaglio with applied gold leaf.
It still has half of its original velvet lined box as shown, and there is a rectangular stamp inset within the shank, which is not readable.
The ring measures a size 4&3/4 on my ring mandrel and weighs 1.6 grams.
