Two figures in a canoe featuring their catch of the day, makes up this vintage unmarked sterling silver Patzcuaro brooch, designed by artist Miguel Covarrubias, circa 1930s.
Appearing in the book “Mexican Jewelry” by Mary L. Davis, the hand wrought articulated brooch is unsigned, as these pieces tend to be, and consists of two anglers with a row of 5 dangling fish, reflecting the fishing tradition of the Pazcuaro lake region in Michoacan, Mexico.
It has hand stamped and engraved details, hand wrought fittings and c-catch, measures approximately 1&1/2 inches wide by 2 inches, top to bottom, and weighs 12.6 grams.
