Pre-Columbian designwork is featured in this scarce and vintage William Spratling money clip, made of sterling or higher fineness silver from Taxco, circa 1938-40s.
Resembling a tassel pull, the sleek clip can also be used as a bookmark, and is hand wrought in what appears to be one of the pre-hispanic designs at Monte Alban, with repousse and incised details.
It measures approximately 2&1/2 inches in length, weighs 5.8 grams, and is signed “Spratling Silver” and “Made in Mexico”.
