Vintage 50s Seamolds by Flexees Swimsuit Bathing Suit Pin Up Romper Dress Sz 34
This cute little vintage romper is actually a mini dress, which also serves as a bathing suit, made by “Seamolds by Flexees”, circa early 1950s.
In the attached vintage ad (see last pic), the suit is described as “the swimsuit with foundation fit … lovely, strapless bra-tops, shapely yet secure; sleeker waistlines; lastique-controlled hip-curves”.
And just like the ad, the Pin Up style Rockabilly bathing suit consists of a black water resistant lastique fabric, with ribbed bodice and interior boning for maintaining the bust portion of the suit upright, simulated belt with genuine mother of pearl buckle, and flouncy skirt with no shorts underneath.
The combination romper/swimsuit also has a sweatheart neckline, inside buttons for shoulder straps if desired, although none are attached to the suit, zippered back, and a single embroidered label along the inside skirt for “Seamolds by Flexees” with logo on the one side, and a size “34” and “Made in U.S.A.” on the reverse.
*Note: The black tone of the ribbed portion has lightened over time, however, the swimsuit itself remains in very good condition – wearable and intact.
Please note approximate measurements as follows, and be sure to allow for ease.
Bust – 34+ (Stretches)
Waist – 26 inches
Hips – 40 inches
Length – 22&1/2 (Top of bodice to skirt hem)
