Vintage Opal Pendant Owl Kachina Zuni Indian Sterling Silver Double Sided Mosaic
So finely crafted and large in size is this handsome double sided Zuni made Hopi Kachina pendant, inlaid with a glittering mosaic of opal gems on one side, and a jasper stone with bear claw motif on the other, circa late 80's early 90's.
The vintage Southwestern Indian pendant has a sterling silver base and is in the form of the Owl Kachina. It has a sculptural face with high dimensional details and simulated feathers, along with a stylized bear claw shaped body set with a geometric mosaic inlay of fire opals featuring a dappling light display of rainbow colors – with black onyx and silver wire trim.
The body of the pendant is reversible and swivels to display a design featuring bear claw piercework, textured surface reticulation, and a high bezel flush set with a swirled sandy colored jasper gemstone.
The expanse of the opal mosaic measures approximately 1&1/3 wide by 1&1/2 inches high, while the pendant itself measures a generous 1&11/16 inches wide at its widest point and hangs approximately 3&5/8 inches from top to base.
It has a shepard’s hook bail, weighs a considerable 38.3 grams, and is marked “Sterling”.
