Vintage 40s Elzac Bird Brooch Wood & Lucite Heron Egret Pin 4.5 Inches
So large and graceful is this vintage bird brooch with a wing span measuring over 4 inches across, by Elzac of Hollywood, circa 1940s.
The elegant unsigned bird is in the form of what appears to be a heron or egret in flight, or other large winged bird, and consists of a dark mahogany colored wood for the body, with finely carved lucite acrylic for the wings.
It is also trimmed with silver chrome beading or studs along the body, and a larger chrome bead for the eye. Please note, that there is a bit of surface oxidation on the chrome beading, conducive to age, but all are intact.
The handsomely sized bird has an embedded metal pinback with visible glue as shown, and measures approximately 4&1/2 inches across, from beak to tail, and 4&3/8 inches high from wing tip to wing tip – with a total weight of 32 grams.
