Vintage 50s Mayan Pin Sterling Bird Glyph Margot de Taxco Design

The distinct curvature of Mesoamerican hieroglyphs is depicted in this vintage sterling silver unsigned Margot de Taxco designed brooch in the form of an ancient Mayan bird glyph, circa 1950s.

The finely made pin consists of sterling silver with decorative glyph design of swirls and beading in what appears to be a bird head or other animal head in profile, with beaded eye at center.

It measures approximately 1&1/2 inches across, weighs 6.9 grams, and is marked “925”, “Taxco”, “Mexico” and “Sterling”.
