Vintage Silver 1932 Pieci 5 Lati Coin Brooch Love Token Republic of Latvia
A large silver 1932 Pieci 5 Lati coin from Latvia was crafted into a brooch, in this vintage “love token” pin, symbolizing Latvia’s freedom from the Soviet Bloc.
The solid weight brooch is made from a genuine 5 Lati coin, consisting of 835 silver, with cut out design around the Baltic goddess ”Milda”, who wears the traditional folk hat of the region with shaft of wheat over her shoulder.
It also has an added rope twist frame, along with three decorative hand wrought silver drops hanging from the base, and reads “Latvijas Republika” in front, and “1932” and “Pieci 5 Lati” on the reverse along with the coat of arms.
The coin brooch measures just over 1&1/2 inches wide, hangs approximately 2&3/8 inches from top of coin to base of drops, has a tube hinge with c-catch, and weighs 28.4 grams.
