Vintage 30s Sterling Silver Dog Brooch Basse Taille Enamel Spaniel Pin – F.A. Hermann Co.

Fine basse taille enamelwork is featured on this handsome and petite sized vintage sterling silver dog head pin, attributed to the F.A. Hermann Company, circa 1930s.

The unsigned pin appears to be in the form of an English Setter or Springer Spaniel, and consists of a sterling silver base with matte surface in back, and glazed surface with intricate basse taille enameling which include a silvery white snout with faint touch of goldenrod, a silver charcoal for the head and floppy ear, black coal eye and nose, and a bright translucent red tongue – all topped with a vitreous glass finish.

It measures approximately 1&1/8 inches wide by 3/4 of an inch high at its highest point, weighs 5.5 grams, and is marked “Sterling”.
