Vintage 40s Coro Sterling Bird Brooch Adolf Katz Pin
A mother bird attends to her baby fledglings in this charming vintage gold plated sterling silver brooch by designer Adolf Katz for Coro, from the early 1940s.
The solid weight 3D brooch is square in shape and consists of sterling silver with heavy polished gold metal plating, and depicts a natural scene of a bird and baby bird nest on a tree branch with surrounding foliage – within an openwork frame.
The pin measures approximately 2&1/8 inches wide by 1&7/8 inches high, weighs a considerable 28.9 grams, and is signed “Coro” (with part of the “C” cut out) and “Sterling”.
The last pic shows the original patent design from 1942.
