Vintage 60s Russian Silver Rooster & Baltic Amber Soviet Chatelaine Pin USSR
This vintage silver rooster or hen is suspended with three carved amber eggs – in this unique modernist Soviet era chatelaine pin, circa 1960s.
The USSR made cold war pin consists of a mod 875 silver rooster with three cascading silver chains of graduating lengths – each with a carved butterscotch Baltic amber bead, measuring approximately 10mm in size.
The pin portion measures approximately ¾ of an inch wide by 1 inch high, while the chatelaine in its entirety hangs about 3&1/2 inches in length, from top to bottom.
It weighs 7.2 grams, has hand wrought fittings with c-catch, a Cyrillic maker’s mark of “ЯK8” and Soviet hallmark with “P” identifying either the town or locale – along with a hammer and sickle within a star and “875” to indicate silver fineness within a barrel shaped cartouche.
