Vintage Ana Sosa Fish Brooch Sterling Silver Abalone Sailfish Marlin
So finely crafted and whimsical in design, is this vintage 3D unsigned Taxco sterling silver and abalone fish, attributed to jeweler Ana Sosa, circa 1940s.
The novelty brooch is in the form of a marlin, a.k.a. sailfish or swordfish, and features sterling silver back fin and tail with incised details, along with a sterling face with what appears to be a wire hook, and high relief abalone shell for the body, riveted into place.
The unsigned brooch measures approximately 2&5/8 inches across from spear to tail fin and weighs 11.6 grams.
